You will be within a few minutes of most of the attractions of central Madrid: commercial streets, Parque del Retiro, La Castellana, Paseo del Prado, Museo del Prado, Reina Sofia Museum, and so on. If you fancy some shopping, it´s near to you the commercial epicenter of Madrid, between Calle Fuencarral and Gran Via and near Calle Serrano where all the major brands have their flagship stores, all are near Chueca neighborhood, where you will find many alternative design shops. You'll also have the option to enjoy Madrid's evenings and its splendid gastronomy very near to you.

Tepic no es un mexicano cualquiera, en Madrid se puede encontrar unos cuantos restaurantes mexicanos, sobre todo entre los barrios de Chueca y Malasaña, todos muy buenos, pero Tepic no es el tipico tex-mex (la version americana), es un autentico mexicano muy bien montado en el corazon de chueca con un toque urbano, buen diseño, lo que rompe con el topico del restaurante mexicano y con un espacio muy agradable. A destacar la excelente atención.

Sus platos son sencillos pero riquisimos, los famosos nachos (que en realidad se llaman topolos, hechos en su cocina) con guacamole son excelentes, el alambre de pollo, las quesadillas, muy recomendables. Los precios normales, una cena esta entre los 20 y 30 euros, como en otros restaurantes, pero mejor nivel.

Tepic is not the classical Mexican, in Madrid you can findplenty of mexican restaurants, specially between Chueca and Malasaña districts, all really good, but Tepic is not the tipical tex-mex. It is an authentic mexican restaurant with an urban concept, well situated in Chueca.
It´s nice atmosphere breaks with the typical mexican restaurants look. Important! really good service! Simple but delicious plates,their famous nachos (wich are really called topolos, are made in their kitchen) with guacamole are excellent, the "alambre de pollo" and "quesadillas" are mighty recomended. Normal prices, a dinner is around 20-30€, like any other places, only better.

Toma...a secret place

En esta ocasión les hablare del "toma", uno de los top-ten de mis sitios, lo conoci por casualidad cuando recien habia aterrizado en madrid, y desde entonces no me ha dejado de gustar. Los propietarios han sido siempre chefs Neoyorkinos residentes en españa admiradores de la cocina local, que se lo han pasado de manos en estos ultimos años.

Es un rincon muy acogedor en la calle conde duque (zona plaza de españa) con unas pocas mesas, por lo que si no reservas antes olvidalo...la comida, una fusión entre internacional y local, muy buena, tambien puedes picar algo y tomarte unos vinitos en su barra...buenos vinos españoles, un atun increible pero lo mas recomendable, los mejillones al vapor en salsa de curry, no dejes de mojar el pan en el fondo de la cazuela y además tartar de bonito en limón y soja, atún en wasabi, foie fresco a la plancha, magret de pato al Pedro Ximénez

Con un ambiente muy gradable. . Los domingos a partir de la una de la tarde un brunch muy bueno.

Despues de un buen concierto en el festival de jazz de primavera en el cuartel de conde duque vale la pena visitarlo.

In this occasion I’ll talk about “Toma”, one of the top ten in my list. I found the place by chance when I first landed in Madrid and since then I still like it. The owners have been New York chefs which now reside in Spain and are big admirers of the tradional Spanish food.
In a very cozy corner in the steet Conde Duque (plaza de españa zone) with few tables, which means that if you don’t have a reservation…forget it!. The food, a fusion between international y local cousine, is very good. You can also grab a bite and have a glass of wine at thew bar….good Spanish wines, incredible tuna fish and the best recommendations are the vapoured mussels in curry sauce…dipping the bread at the bottom of the pot is a must! Also the tuna fish tartar with lemon and soja, or the tuna and wasabi, grilled fresh foie and the great Pedro Ximenez duck magret.
With a very pleasant athmosphere, they offer a really good brunch Sundays from 1:00 pm.
After a good concert in the Spring Jazz Festival in Conde Duque…Toma is the place to go.

El Pico es el tipico bar de Barrio, o eso parece! ubicado en Malasaña a pocos metros de la Plaza 2 de Mayo, un barrio famoso por su escena alternativa y por el constante movimiento de gente joven. Lo descubri mientras diseñaba una tienda justo enfrente y se convirtio en mi sitio de reunión, con un ambiente totalmente familiar que ahora frecuenta su fundador Sebin mientras juega cartas con sus amigos, ahora el bar lo gestionan sus hijos Rafa y Toñin, gente encantadora.

Para aquellos que no conocen Madrid, este tipo de bares son lo mejor para tapear y tomarse unas cañas (nada facil de conseguir si no se es local, por eso quiero recomendarlo en esta ocasión). Atendido por Carlos, sun encargado simpatiquisimo, de día tiene un ambiente familiar y se sirven comida muy casera, recomendable el cocido madrileño. De noche la musica cambia y se llena gente joven que los fines de semana calientan motores para irse a otros sitios luego. Con algunas cañas se puede cenar, las tapas y raciones son increibles, buenos vinos y atencón excelente, y sobre todo, buenos precios.

Muy buenas las croquetas, las orejas de cerdo y los pinchos de tortilla. Durante el verano les recomiendo sentarse en la terraza de enfrente y tomarse unas cañas o un tinto de verano, que pertenece al restaurante "La fragua de Sebin", tambien de ellos.

Esta ubicado en la Calle Divino Pastor 12 y se puede llegar en metro a las estaciones de Bilbao, Tribunal o San Bernardo.

El Pico is the typical neighborhood bar…or so it seems! Located in Malasaña few feet away from the Plaza 2 de Mayo, this neighborhood famous for it’s alternative scene and constant flow of young people. I discovered it while designing a store right across the street and it became my meeting point because of the very family-like atmosphere. Now the founder of the bar Sebin usually goes there to play cards with his friends. The bar is run by his sons Rafa and Toñin, very charming people.
For those of you that don’t know Madrid, these kind of bars are the best places to go for a beer and some “tapas” (difficult to find if you are not a local, that’s why I want to recommend El Pico). The manager Carlos, a very cool person, keeps a very family-like atmosphere during the day making it a great place to have a really good homemade lunch. Highly recommended the “cocido madrileño”. At night time and weekends the music changes and it gets packed with a young crowd that starts warming up to go to other places later.
With a few beers you can dine with no problem. The “tapas” and “raciones” are incredible, good wines, good service and especially good prices.
The croquettes, the “orejas de cerdo” and the Spanish tortilla are just excellent. At summer I recommend you to sit at the terrace outside that belongs to “La Fragua de Sebin” (also owned by them) and have a beer or a “tinto de verano”.

I´levn es un sitio con una propuesta muy fresca que se define como un cafe-lounge real, en pleno centro de madrid. Para un publico muy variado pero con buen gusto. Un espacio confortable que se adapta a los deseos del usuario, puede ir de desde un cafe a un bar y simultaneamente ser restaurante sin molestarse entre ellos y donde puedes elegir como acomodarte, picar algo o tomar un cafe comodamente en sus agradables sofas, o cenar en sus salas algo más intimas, con una agradable musica de fondo y una excelente atención.

La propuesta para la carta ha sido acertadamente llamada "simpatica", con una carta que varia de acuerdo al horario. Altamente recomendable su hamburguesa con gongonzola y rucola, de sus fingerfood los chupachups de queso de cabra o el taco de atun con esparragos y salsa romescu. Fuera de serie sus cockteles preparados por Tomas, acomodados en sus sofas y viendo la vista panoramica a la plaza.

I’leven is a place with a very fresh look that defines itself like a real café-lounge in the heart of Madrid. For a very varied crowd with good taste, it is a comfortable space that adapts to the desires of each person. It can go from a café to bar and simultaneously a restaurant with out bothering each other. You can choose from having a nice coffee sitting on the comfortable and nice couches or have dinner in one of the intimate dinning rooms with pleasant background music y great service.
The “cool” menu they have varies accordingly throughout the day. Highly recommended is the hamburguer with gorgonzola cheese and rucola, form the fingerfood menu, the “chupachups” of goat cheese o the tuna fish with asparagus and romescu sauce. Try their out-of-this-world cocktails, prepared by Tomas, sitting on the couches and enjoying the panoramic view of the plaza.

Broadway Madrid

En los ultimos años madrid se ha convertido en una de las ciudades con mas teatro de europa, hay tantas opciones y musicales que parece que estuviesemos en broadway...muchos de los actores mas conocidos de cine y tv tambien se suben a las tablas...asi que si vienes a madrid o vives en aqui y tienes ganas de teatro pero un presupuesto ajustado, te recomiendo visitar la "taquilla ultimo minuto" donde a partir de las 17:00 horas encontraras con descuentos de ultimo hora tickets para las mejores obras en cartelera

Esta en la Plaza del Carmen 1, metro Sol ó Gran Via. Los horarios son de martes a domingo, de 17:00 a 22:00 horas. Se podrán comprar entradas de los espectáculos de los teatros adheridos desde dos horas antes de cada función.

So if you come to Madrid o simply live here and want to visit the theater but have a tight budget, I highly recommend you to visit “taquilla ultimo minuto” were starting at 17:00 you can find lastminute discounts on the best shows.
